It is important to operate the air
conditioning system on your car regularly even in the winter
months to prolong the life of the system. When the air conditioning is
running, the refrigerant carries oil around the system. This
lubricates the seals which stops them drying out and failing, so
it is worth running it for a few minutes once a week even in
winter.As all air conditioning systems
lose refrigerant over a period of time it is essential to have
it serviced at least every two years. When we service an air
conditioning system we start by checking the system visually and
then connect it to an A/C service centre (pictured right) which
removes the refrigerant, cleans it and weighs it. The
system is then vacuum dried and vacuum leak tested, if all is ok the correct
amount of oil and leak detection dye is added and the system is
recharged with the correct amount of refrigerant. The system is then leak tested using
electronic leak detection equipment.
Should we find a leak in the system we will
then contact you to discuss the fault before we go any
further. |
